I was sent a link to a USA Today article ‘Gray Googlers’ strike gold.. I was so happy to see this article, which clearly explains how ordinary people sharing their wealth of life experience and know how can indeed reap the rewards. I have been passing the article on to as many people as I can. it is the epitome of the content is king formula for success combined with a passion for what you do or did and sharing that knowledge.
I recently spoke to an affiliate having trouble getting his sites up. I went to take and look and found out he was using one of those WYSIWYG build it over night sites with one paragraph of content and the rest all banners. Don’t get me wrong those have their place and use but I have a problem with making people think they can just build a content impaired site, stuff it with every keyword you can think of and put banners all over the place to make money. Real successful affiliate marketing just does not work that way.
He explained that he went to a seminar on affiliate marketing and they told him all about keywords, and banners and how he could make lots of money ( yeah they sold him the websites and hosting packages too). Mr. D. told me how he is old and just wants to retire but needs an income. Mr. D is a rental property repair man and he happens to be my Father’s age. I am one of those “care bear” people as Robin Nobles puts it. I could not just help him put up a banner and tell him good luck. I had to do more.
I sent him that article from USA Today. He had such a wealth of knowledge on fixing things, rental property do’s and don’ts and wood working plus a lifetime of experience and know how. I am certain he can be successful using affiliate programs and the Adsense program. If more affiliates would just stick to things they know about and ditch the banner farm approach they would not be disappointed with affiliate programs.
So what do you know and how can you share that wealth of experience and knowledge?
